BEING A METU STUDENT..
For most high school students;going to a good university,especially like metu,is very important.To be university student was my biggest dream.I and my friends were thinking that there are no homework or lots of exams in university.but I perfectly understood that we were wrong about homeworks and exams.It is not the only difference between university life and my dreams.I have some problems adjusting METU atmosphere.These problems affect me psychologically,academically and socially.As I have to live on my own;I cant get any support from anyone at first.But my class friends and teachers help me in this adjusting process.To be a METU student provides not only responsibilities but also advantages.To be honest,I didnt like METU at first;because ıt is different from my hometown and my highschool atmosphere.Actually,it doesn’t mean that METU is a bad university.I think METU is best university in TURKEY in terms of foreign language education.There are great quantity of possibilities for studentsin terms of sports,enjoyments etc…It seems that METU can fulfill my expectations about education,academically.I only need some time for adjusting..
Yes,you are right.Having an education in METU is invaluable.I never thought i would get METU.Actually,i had no dreams about university.I was just wanting to end YGS-LYS process quickly.We had to study a lot at that time so like you i thought that university will be a convenience for me.But we were wrong.First,you are having an examination period.Shortly after,you are having a homework period(presentations) and exams are starting again.There is no time to breathe.I experienced the same problems.I saw the biggest help from my aunt.She lives in Ankara,this is a very big advantage for me.When i am bored,i have chance to go there.This is being very good for me because when i come back to dormitory,i feel refreshed.I love METU so much from the beginning but i went through some bad things at dormitory.But now,i got over this and there is no problem apart from missing my family so much.As you said,METU presents lots of activities.I didn’t participate in a student group.I regret not joining,but i won’t do this wrong again.I will try to be social person second term.Being asocial doesn’t do anything other than being harmful.It causes you to feel lonely and depressive.I hope METU will fulfill all of the expectation of us.
